Q. What are Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Cost Reports?

SNF cost reports are annual expense reports that must be submitted by nursing facilities to a Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for review in order for the facility to receive Medicare reimbursement.The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) use the report data—facility description, financial data, wage index information, utilization data, and statistical data—for determining if Medicare payments were under/over paid to the facility, and for setting future payment rates. CMS stores the cost report data in the Healthcare Provider Cost Reporting Information System (HCRIS).

Q. What form do you use for the SNF cost reports?

We use FORM CMS-2540-10, the Skilled Nursing Facility cost report form for periods on or after December 1, 2010.

Q. Do your SNF reports provide sub-provider worksheets?

Yes, we display all the component worksheets found in the facility's HCRIS data, such as worksheets for HHA, RHC, FQHC, CMHC, and HOSPICE.

Q. What if I have lost my download report or I was unable to access the report directly after purchasing it?

If you are a non-member, you are allowed up to 30 days to download your report starting from the purchase date. Please check for the invoice that should have been emailed to you. The invoice contains a URL that will link you back to your order download page. If you cannot find your invoice email, contact us and we will resend one to you, provided that we can verify that you made the payment for the report(s).

Q. Is your cost report data timely and accurate?

We acquire and use the most recent HCRIS quarterly data provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Our reports provide every line available in the HCRIS data. If you have any concerns about the appropriateness and accuracy of a facility's cost report that we provide, please contact us before purchasing the report (note: we will not provide the data to you without purchase, but if we feel that your question is reasonable, we might check to see if certain data exists in the report).

Q. Am I allowed to share your cost reports with other organizations?

No. Sharing cost reports with other organizations outside of your own organization is a violation of our user agreement.

Q. Why is my email address required?

Besides using your email address to send you an invoice for your purchase, we need your email address in case you have a problem getting your report download(s) after initial purchase. Your invoice will contain a backup URL that links to your order download page. If you are not a member, you will have only 30 days to use that link.

Q. What is your privacy policy?

We will not sell, rent, loan or give your personal information to anyone at anytime. Your information will only be used within Consolidated Billing Services, Inc., which owns Our formal privacy is available at the bottom of the home page.

Q. Is your website secure for ecommerce?

All of the user data transmitted to and from our website is Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encrypted with 256-bit certificate. Our webservers use High Availability physical firewalls for protection. We regularly install software updates, including security patches, on our web servers.
